UPFL SUPER SIX: WEEK EIGHT

30 10 2008

#1 – Brain Trust (7-1): Lose by .10 points…amazing, but its not the playoffs and Brain Trust is still the best team around.

#2 – Double Lung (6-2): Huge scoring week with strong play from Santana Moss.

#3 - Blumkins (6-2): Blumkins ride the Drew Brees express again to victory and look set for a playoff berth to defend their title.

#4 – Team Billings (5-3): Involved in a log-jam in the UPFC Conference, have won their past two.

#5 – North Side Ghetto (5-3): Three in a row for the Ghetto and Brian Westbrook looks really good.

#6 – The Sean Taylor Experience (5-3): Back in the Super Six thanks to McNabb and Westbrook.

RED ALERT: The Has Beens (0-8), Muskie Lovers (1-7), No Mercy in the Dojo (2-6)

Player of the Week: Santana Moss
Bum of the Week: Ben Roethlisberger

UPBA/NBA Preivew

26 10 2008

UPBA Pre-Season Super Four

#1 – Break Away: The defending champs will be led by Amare Stoudamire and Josh Smith as they try to become the first UPBA champion to repeat. In addition to the previous two players mentioned Break Away will look to Vince Carter and Kevin Martin to pick up the scoring slack. The defending champs are in a very good position to start the year and if they can avoid injuries a repeat run is not out of the question.

#2 – Team DeVETO: The runner-ups return without Dirk Nowitzki but have plenty of players to make-up for Dirk being sent packing. Danny Granger is primed to break out to the next level this year and with Deron Williams returning this team is solid at the guard position. The key to this teams possible run at a title is Kevin Durant. If Durant moves up to the next level, this team will be near the top of the UPBA all year long.

#3 – peace.love.afros: The return of the original team name from their title in season one of the UPBA coincides with the return of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Add Tim Duncan and this team has possibly the best first three in the league. The one hitch is the players following them. Many solid players but none are really star players. And for Afros to return to their glory days they will need someone besides their big three to step up.

#4 – The Untouchables: Chris Paul. Simply that name alone makes this team a contender. Add in the fact that they Andre Miller at the other guard position gives this team possibly the best guard tandem in the league. In addition they sport two solid forward options in Rudy Gay and Mike Miller, but it all boils down to Andrew Bynum. If Bynum returns at 100% health and with improved skills this team will be a hard out come playoff time.

UPFL SUPER SIX

22 10 2008

#1 - Brain Trust (7-0): Who knows what the limit is? First undeafeated season in UPFL history? Could be very possible.

#2 - Statutory Defendants (5-2): Again missing the live draft is paying off for GM Streur, perhaps a future game plan for all GMs.

#3 - Wolfmans Wolfpack (5-2): Seattle may stink in the NFL but they mustered up just enough points for the Wolfpack to keep rolling.

#4 - Desert Dogs (5-2): Props to the dual GMs of this team for keeping it afloat after losing Tom Brady in week one.

#5 - Double Lung (5-2): With all byes behind this team we will see how far its RBs can take them.

#6 - Blumkins (5-2): Will give the defending champs the chance to prove itself without its star player (R.Bush) before we remove them from the Super Six.

RED ALERT: The Has Beens (0-7), Muskie Lovers (1-6), No Mercy in the Dojo (2-5)

Player of the Week: Steven Jackson

Bum of the Week: Peyton Manning

UPFL SUPER SIX – WEEK 6

15 10 2008

#1 - Brain Trust (6-0): Picked up Marshawn Lynch which should only bolster this teams chances come playoff time. Oh yeah, they also layed the smackdown on previously ranked #2 Benson’s Boys.

#2 – Blumkins (5-1): Defending champs have won four in a row, and are riding the Saints bandwagon to ‘W’s as Brees and Bush dominate.

#3 – Statutory Defendants (4-2): A solid RB crew has this team in contention for their second UPFL title.

#4 – Wolfmans Wolfpack (4-2): The only two-time UPFL champion is looking for a third.

#5 – Team DeVETO (4-2): Will try to ride the Marion Barber express to the title.

#6 – AquaSplash (4-2): This team will continue to be near the top with the WR crew that it has in place.

RED ALERT: The Has Beens (0-6), Muskie Lovers (1-5), Falcon Crazy (1-5)

Player of the Week: Peyton Manning

Bum of the Week: Joseph Addai

UPFL SUPER SIX

9 10 2008

#1 – Brain Trust (5-0): They keep rolling along and remain the only undefeated team in the UPFL.

#2 – Benson’s Boys (4-1): Win last week, even though All Day had a terrible game.

#3 – Cobblestone Crush (4-1): Third GM in a row from the IOFC conference to be ranked.

#4 – Blumkins (4-1): The trade two weeks ago that brought in Reggie Bush and Terrrell Owens has paid off.

#5 – Double Lung (4-1): They luck out this week with the W, but in fantasy football luck is a big part.

#6 – The Sean Taylor Experience (4-1): Lose their first game of the year and maybe even more with Brian Westbrook out for an extended amount of time.

RED ALERT: The Has Beens (0-5), Matt Millen (1-4), JLaw’s Crew (1-4)

Player of the Week: Reggie Bush

Bum of the Week: Adrian Peterson

UPFL SUPER SIX – WEEK FOUR

1 10 2008

#1 – Brain Trust (4-0): Oh to be king of the fantasy world, fresh off his Fantasy baseball championship GM Carlson now has the #1 team in football. We bow our heads to the great one.

#2 – The Sean Taylor Experience (4-0): For a new GM this year Matt Beauchamp sure has this fantasy thing down.

#3 – Honkies of the Underworld (3-1): Wow. Pretty safe to say that was a week the Honkies probably won’t see again, question is now can they keep on winning?

#4 – Benson’s Boys (3-1): Suffer their first loss and fall from the #1 ranking but this team is too good to keep down for long.

#5 – AquaSplash (3-1): Probably safe to say this team has the #1 WR corps in the entire UPFL.

#6 – Cobblestone Crush (3-1): When you win with Carson Palmer at QB, and he doesn’t play, it is safe to say you have a very good team.

RED ALERT: The Has Beens (0-4), Muskie Lovers (0-4), The Foonta Banfooks (1-3)

Player of the Week: Brett Favre

Bum of the Week: Marion Barber
