Recently The Commish sat down with GM Jared Lawson and they mocked the first two rounds of the 2008 UPFL Draft here is what unfolded at that meeting:
1st Round
#1 – LaDainian Tomlinson: No questions, #1 by far
#2 – Joseph Addai: Safe, solid, and poised for big things
#3 – Adrian Peterson: Great offensive line, but a little gimpy at times
#4 - Brian Westbrook: Not valued enough does it all through the air and on the ground
#5 – Tom Brady: Won’t have a great year like he did last year, but even 35 – 40 TDs will be nice
#6 – Steven Jackson: Not on a great team, but this guy is ready to prove last year was a fluke
#7 – Marshawn Lynch: Rising every hour before the draft, might even go ahead of Jackson
#8 – Randy Moss: Another great year last year, not to be replicated but even coming close will be nice for some GM
#9 – Peyton Manning: Like his teammate Addai: Safe, solid, and consistent you need that late in Round 1
#10 – Frank Gore: Martz should get him more catches which equals more points
2nd Round
#11 – Clinton Portis: No Time share, and with many RBs facing that Portis at only 26 years old is a solid pick here
#12 – Marion Barber: Time share with Felix Jones, but should vulture TDs
#13 – Ryan Grant: Will be relied on more with Rodgers as the QB, question is can he hold up?
#14 – Terrell Owens: Big mouth = Big play
#15 – Braylon Edwards: Put up big time numbers last year and could be even bigger this year
#16 – Larry Johnson: At #16 this is a perfect spot for LJ, a great #2 RB with potential #1 RB stats
#17 – Reggie Wayne: Some people still think Marvin Harrison is the Colts WR you want. Those people finish last
#18 – Maurice-Jones Drew: In a time-share with Fred Taylor but he does get the red zone looks
#19 – Tony Romo: Great slot for him the difference between him and a few others isn’t really big in numbers, but he is being hyped, so an early pick needs to be used to nab him.
#20 – Jamal Lewis: A bit of surprise, but how many RBs are not in a time-share this year and how many are surronded by other weapons on offense?
Well on Sunday the 31st no more mock drafts will be needed because the real thing will happen at 8:00 PM EST. Good luck to all GMs in the 2008 UPFL season.
-The Commish (a.k.a – Jared Lawson)
I definitely trust The Commish’s pick ideas over GM Jared Lawson.
