UPFL Super 8 – Week 1

13 09 2007

After one week of UPFL action I think it is safe to say that some teams want to take back their 1st couple picks and others want to pat themselves on the back for their picks. Either way DON’T FREAK OUT and DON’T THINK TOO HIGHLY. It is one week and with all teams making the playoffs anything can happen and probably will. With that said onto the 1st Super 8 of the 2007 season:

#1 – Jon Kitna’s Optimism (1-0): 139 points and Tony Romo was sitting on the bench? This team has the running backs in place and two quality QBs to interchange with that a successful season should be expected.

#2 – AquaSplash (1-0): Tony Romo. That is all that is needed. You add the fact that this team had T.O. starting also this week and a big team score was no surprise. Will Romo play like that every week? Probably not, but solid depth all around will keep this team around the top all year.

#3 – The Pacific Ultions (1-0): Great RB play combined with a HUGE week from Plaxico Burress equals one win. Add in the fact that Donovan McNabb can play better and this team looks scary.

#4 – Blumkins (1-0): Drew Brees plays horrible and this team still wins. LDT has a terrible week rushing and this team still wins. Is the Vikings D/ST the defense to finally take over the Bears or Ravens this year? Very well could be, and with an expectation that their 1st two round picks will play better the Blumkins must like their outlook.

#5 – No Mercy in the Dojo (1-0): Last years runner-up picks up with a week one win. Tom Brady played like all expected him to, and the Bears D even in a loss were still solid.

#6 – Millen’s Men (1-0): Steven Jackson looks human this week and this team still wins. The WRs corps are probably the best in both conferences, and that could carry this team far.

#7 - North Side Ghetto (1-0): A bad week from Lee Evans and Matt Leinart will make this team feel good that it has good players at other positions. If the San Diego D can play that every week, this team just needs Leinart to play up to par to be a force.

#8 – IOwensU (1-0): A bad week from both Philip Rivers and Steven Jackson couldn’t keep this team down. The Wideouts were excellent and Clinton Portis erased some concerns about his injury history. IOwensU could be looking at their best year yet.
