#4 – Crabtrees Playmakers (4-2) (GM Mark Korpi): Will hope for continued strong play from their WRs and LDT keeps improving from his lackluster self.

#5 – The Outsiders (4-2): This GM newcomer has four straight wins and is following the lead of their two strongest players: Peyton Manning and Maurice Jones-Drew.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tom Brady, New England Patriots: Its been a long time but he finally regains a Player of the Week status.

BUM OF THE WEEK: Jared Lawson, GM peace.love.smuck: You spend your #1 pick on Drew Brees, you don’t bench him for Matt Hasselbeck, ever, again, ever. For that I am the Bum of the Week.

#3 – Choking Tila Tequila (3-1) (GM Jeff Jacobson): One of the best team names in the league will hope for Tom Brady and Roddy White to start performing at the levels they should be this week.

#4 – Statutory Defendants (3-1) (GM Caleb Streur): Win their second in a row behind a big week from Antonio Gates.

#5 – Matt Millen (2-2) (GM Dan Makela): Back-to-Back high score weeks propel this team into the Top 5. Peyton Manning is their Top Gun.

#1 – Desert Dogs 3-0 (GM Kyle Schinella, Brent Roberts): The Dogs take over the #1 spot and hope to keep it longer than the previous holders.

#2 – peace.love.smuck 3-0 (GM Jared Lawson): The Commish finds himself in the Super 5 for the first time this season, but rest assured he will trade his way out of any possible title.

#3 – IOwensU 2-1 (GM Brandon June): TO is useless so far, but Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson have this team going in the right direction.

#4 – Matty Ice 2-1 (GM Kevin Carlson): This GM had the first undefeated regular season last year, so two wins in a row means this team is back on track.

#5 – Playoffs !!??!! 2-1 (GM Glenn Luke): Last weeks #1 gets one more shot to stay in the Super 5, lets see how he responds to the Frank Gore injury.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Peyton Manning, Colts
BUM OF THE WEEK: Drew Brees, Saints

UPFL SUPER FIVE – WEEK TWO

#1 – Playoffs!!??!!: 2-0 (GM Glenn Luke) A huge week from Chris Johnson and Frank Gore propel Team Playoffs to the #1 ranking in the UPFL.

#2 – Desert Dogs: 2-0 (GM Kyle Schinella/Brent Roberts) Riding the Drew Brees express until it breaks, could ride it all the way to #1.

#3 – I LOVE MY CAT: 2-0 (GM Derek Gardner) Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson take good care of their cat again this week in winning.

#4 – The Sean Taylor Experience: 2-0 (GM Matt Beauchamp) Last years 3rd place team is back in contention again with a solid team from top to bottom led by the surprising Darren Sproles.

#2 – Blumkins: 1-0 (GM Zach Gauthier): Escape with a narrow victory this week as Tom Brady rallies his real team and the Blumkins for a win.

#3 – Playoffs!!??!!: 1-0 (GM Glenn Luke): Good opening win for the #3 team from last week, but with McNabb hurt may need to look to another QB for the coming weeks.

#4 – Desert Dogs: 1-0 (GM Kyle Schinella/Brent Roberts): Drew Brees. Enough said.

#5 – North Lake Lakers: 1-0 (GM John Kohtala): Rode the Eagles D/ST and Drew Brees to the highest point total this week, and a strong opening week one win.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings:

Drew Brees had the bigger week, but AP takes top honors for living up to the hype of being the #1 pick.

BUM OF THE WEEK: LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers:

Is this the end of LDT? Already on the injury report, LDT was not on the field when the Chargers looked their best. It might be time to start the burial of a great fantasy career.

UPFL SUPER FIVE: PRE-SEASON

10 09 2009

UPFL SUPER FIVE (PRE-SEASON)

With only eight teams in each conference, I could have simply wrote all team names on paper, thrown the 32 pieces of paper in the air, and whichever five I caught make those teams the first Super Five of the season.

Every team has talent to win, and more than anything I believe just pure luck will decide the champion this year.

#1 – The Fighting Manx (Griffin Lawson): Respect the defending champs; until they lose they hold the top spot in the Super Five.

#2 – Blumkins (Zach Gauthier): Solid team all around, led by Tom Brady at QB, and the wildcard is Brandon Marshall, if he plays and plays at 100%, this becomes a very tough team.

#3 – Playoffs!!??!! (Glenn Luke): When you have Chris Johnson on your bench, you know your team has some talent. The key question mark for this team will be the play of QB Donovan McNabb

#4 – Team DeVETO (Brandon Lawson): This team will be led by Aaron Rodgers at QB, Randy Moss WR and Steven Jackson at RB, the question marks are the two aging RBs in Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson.

#5 – Bahrainy Bugle Boys (James Walker): The Boys of Bugle will look to Tony Romo to have a great season post-Jessica Simpson, and hope that LDT has one more fantastic year in him.
